Zero waste challenge

Image
( PL ) I recently came up with a small 30-day zero waste challenge. One day equals one mission on the way to zero waste. I decided to walk the walk and took it up immediately. Here are my results... But first, take a look at the challenge itself :) #1: What's in my trashcan? Kitty litter, food and veggies leftovers, plastics from sweets and juice bottles, cardboard and papers and a number of beer bottles. What to do with it? Leftovers soup (already begun collecting it), reducing sweets, buying leaf tea (will start it as soon as I am finished with all my reserves). Make my own juices and segregate papers, metals and what not. I am already segregating glass. I will do my best to start composting as soon as I move to my dream home. #2: I did. I do! I usually use plastic containers and bags made out of a curtain :). #3: Went to a bar with my colleagues. Ordered a beer and specifically told the barman not to give me the straw. Everything went smoothly (including the beer!)...

3 Hardcore Zero Waste Practices

Image
(PL) Zero waste  will never cease to amaze me :). Still, here are some examples that seem too hardcore for me... Peeing in the shower Arguments in favour, such as saving water, hygenic and health reasons, smaller toilet paper usage and the fact that allegedly everybody does it do not convince me... So far. Of course, prior to dumpster diving spree, you need loads of knowledge and a pinch of luck... This topic is vital and necessary as the masses of food wasted worldwide are even more bewildering... Yet personally, before dumpster diving, I opt for foodsharing . Cats using the toilet Teaching cats to use the toilet is contrary to their nature. Depriving them of a comfortable position and opportunit...

Image
( PL ) How to be zero waste in the office? … or at least produce less waste and be more eco-friendly? The 4 R’s will help you! Zero waste movement is all about reducing waste so as not to pollute the environment. Although producing no rubbish at all may be harder to accomplish, let’s see what we can do every day in the office to create less of it. Let the 4 R’s guide you! 1.   Refuse Refuse any single-use appliances like plastic straws in your beverages, cutlery, plastic cups for water or paper cups for tea and coffee. Opt for reusables instead (as in R #3 below). Water from my cup. More stylish, less wasteful. It’s a win-win! 2.   Reduce Reduce the amount of used paper. Digitize your notes and reminders; use your cell phone to have quicker access to them – but make sure to comply with your company's security rules. Also, writing down passwords is not only wasteful; it is also not secure. Store your passwords in a secure way using a recommended...
